An ether theory of this type is already published in a mainstream
journal, Foundations of Physics.

See http://ilja-schmelzer.de/matter/ for the details. It covers all
fermions and gauge fields of the standard model of particle physics,
so, it explains what the SM simply postulates. This makes it much
better than all the many variants of old ether theories, which cover
only the EM field.
