There is a relatively simple presentation of General  Relativity and Gravitation at

It contains a few small mathematical flaws, but it should help your group to understand what you are trying to grasp.  You may need to learn some Tensor calculus to follow the reasoning there.  If any  of you should really understand it, I can explain the minnor flaws it contains.
