 Precession of Mercury's perihelion is based on the assumption of
elliptical planetary orbits.
In reality, it is physically impossible for a free macro body to orbit
around another moving body in any type of geometrically closed path.
Mercury is a free body, sun is a moving body and elliptical orbit is a
geometrically closed path. Therefore, it is prudent to re-define orbital
path of mercury before commenting on its precession. See;
